Capella Bangkok named World’s Best Hotel 2024
Capella Bangkok has taken the hospitality world by storm, claiming the coveted top spot on The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2024 list. Leaping from No.11 in 2023 to No.1 this year, the hotel not only tops the global rankings but also secures the title of Best Hotel in Asia.
Since its 2020 opening, the riverside retreat has charmed guests with lush gardens, sophisticated design, and stunning views of the Chao Phraya River, where every one of its 101 rooms offers a front-row seat.
The competition was fierce. Last year’s No.1, Passalacqua, nestled on Italy’s idyllic Lake Como, slipped to No.2 but still earned the prestigious Carlo Alberto Best Boutique Hotel Award. Set in an 18th-century villa, the boutique hotel is praised for its intimate charm and personalised service.
Rounding out the top three is Rosewood Hong Kong, perched in the vibrant Victoria Dockside district. Asia dominated this year’s rankings with 19 entries, solidifying its position as a premier destination for luxury travel. Bangkok alone boasts four entries in the top 50, including Mandarin Oriental (No.12), Four Seasons (No.14) and Siam Bangkok (No.21).
Europe also made a strong showing with 13 hotels, led by Parisian icons Cheval Blanc (No.4) and Hôtel de Crillon (No.15). The UK’s Claridge’s (No.11) and Raffles London at The OWO (No.13) also cracked the top tier. Meanwhile, The Carlyle in New York (No.30) was North America’s highest-ranking hotel.
The list is compiled by a global panel of experts from The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, showcasing the best in luxury hospitality from all corners of the world, reported Forbes.
