University student crashes, kills motorcyclist in Nakhon Ratchasima
A tragic accident occurred yesterday when a university student driving a black Toyota Fortuner collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the death of the motorcyclist. The incident took place at 6.30pm, yesterday, August 7, near a community clinic in Nakhon Ratchasima.
The collision happened before a railway crossing on Suebsiri Road. The black Toyota Fortuner with license plate ขธ 2158 Nakhon Ratchasima collided with a white Honda PCX motorcycle with license plate 3 กข 7382 Nakhon Ratchasima and then crashed into a noodle vendor’s cart. The motorcyclist, identified as 41 year old Boonrod, was found deceased at the scene, with severe injuries including a crushed skull and multiple broken bones.
Rescue workers promptly transported Boonrod’s body to Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, awaiting his family to claim his remains for traditional funeral rites.
The 18 year old driver of the Toyota, identified only as A, is a student at a well-known private university in Nakhon Ratchasima. She stated that she was driving from Wat Mai Ampawan at normal speed when she failed to notice the vehicle in front of her as she approached the Prasopsuk community entrance. A panicked reaction led her to hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.
The collision resulted in Boonrod being dragged several metres under the vehicle, leading to his immediate death. The vehicle then struck the noodle cart, causing minor injuries to the vendor and an employee, reported KhaoSod.
Initial investigations revealed no alcohol in A’s system. The police took her to the police station for further questioning to determine the exact cause of the accident.
In related news, a car accident on a road in Ban Phai, Khon Kaen, resulted in a fatal collision, with one man dead at the scene and efforts underway to locate his relatives. The crash involved a sedan spinning out of control and hitting a pickup truck.
