Surin community intensifies search for missing man
Surin residents and local officials are intensifying their search for a 37 year old man who mysteriously disappeared five days ago. Concerned family members have even performed traditional rituals, seeking help to find him, but have yet to see any results.
Today, August 8, a local news outlet reported that Somchai Kaewkam was last seen on August 2 around 7am. He was wearing faded jeans and a long-sleeved shirt when he was last spotted near the eucalyptus forest to the west of Ban Non Tabak, in the Sangha district of Surin province. Somchai’s family is deeply worried as he did not carry a mobile phone, making it difficult to contact or track him.
The community, including local leaders and rescue teams, has been tirelessly combing the forest area throughout the day. Despite their efforts, they have found no trace of him. The search was paused, with plans to resume tomorrow.
Somchai’s parents, Somsri and Noi Kaewkam, have been performing traditional rituals according to their beliefs. They lit incense and prayed to local spirits, hoping for any sign of their son. Despite these efforts, there have been no developments.
Seree Jindasri, the assistant village headman and operator of the Sri Nuan News page, shared that he learnt about Somchai’s disappearance on August 5. He noted that it has been over five days without any news, prompting him to use social media to spread awareness and seek assistance from anyone who might have seen Somchai or from agencies that could aid in the search, reported KhaoSod.
