Man dies in collision with cow on Thai road

A 54 year old man tragically died in a collision with a cow while riding his big bike. The accident occurred on the road connecting Nang Rong and Buriram on September 3. His grieving wife appealed for the cow’s owner to take responsibility.

Nantachai, a resident of Village 13, Sakae Phrong subdistrict, Mueang district, Buriram province, was riding his big bike when a five year old male cow suddenly crossed the road, leading to a fatal accident. Both Nantachai and the cow died at the scene. The incident has left his family devastated, as he was the family’s breadwinner and a respected member of the community.

On September 4, Nantachai’s relatives held a religious ceremony at Chao Nan Kan Chang Branch 1, located at 32 Village 13, Sakae Phrong subdistrict, Mueang district, Buriram province, near kilometre marker 11. They also conducted a traditional ritual to call his spirit back to the accident site.

The funeral atmosphere was filled with sorrow, especially near the coffin, which was surrounded by wreaths from respected individuals and a large photograph of a two-story house that Nantachai had planned to build for his family.

Sirikorn, his 53 year old wife, tearfully shared that her husband had been the family’s pillar. He had built a successful auto repair business with two branches and had planned to construct a comfortable home for their children, reported KhaoSod.

However, his sudden death has left these dreams unfulfilled. She expressed her frustration.

“The police have yet to locate the cow’s owner. I hope the owner steps forward to take responsibility. Keeping cows without proper supervision causes danger to road users.”

In related news, a pickup truck ran a red light and struck a motorcyclist, resulting in the rider’s immediate death. Despite efforts by a nurse and a postman to revive him, the man succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
