Nearby, a severely damaged Toyota van was found in the middle of the road, its roof completely destroyed.

Inside the van, four people, including two men, two women, and a monk, were found dead. Five additional passengers were injured and had already been transported to the hospital by rescue teams.

The truck driver, identified as Ro Changniam, was at the scene waiting to provide information to the police. He explained that he was en route to collect sugarcane in Nong Bua district, Nakhon Sawan when he heard unusual noises from his truck and decided to pull over.

Just as he was about to stop, the van crashed into the back of his trailer, then moved past him before halting in the road ahead. Ro mentioned he rushed to assist the injured van passengers and spoke to a monk who informed him that the van driver, who was severely injured, had been feeling drowsy since morning.

Pol. Lt. Pisal reported that the van involved in the accident was part of a pilgrimage group travelling from Dhammakaya Temple to a branch temple in Phichit province. Preliminary investigations suggest driver fatigue could be the cause of the accident, reported KhaoSod.
