Toyota Vios driver shoots truck driver in Prachuap Khiri Khan

In a shocking early morning showdown, a Toyota Vios driver unleashed six bullets at a truck driver, leaving him critically injured. The dramatic incident unfolded yesterday, April 27, on Phetkasem Road’s southbound stretch near kilometre marker 315 + 600 in the heart of Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan district. The gunman later handed himself over to the police.

The car involved, a bronze-silver Toyota Vios with licence plate number กข 5526 from Prachuap Khiri Khan, was brought to Khlong Wan Police Station for examination. Police investigations identified the suspect as 45 year old physical education teacher, Churit (surname withheld), from a local school in Thap Sakae district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

Police charged Churit with three offences: carrying a firearm in public without a permit, discharging a firearm in public, and attempted murder with intent. The suspect’s decision to surrender grants him the right to apply for bail during the investigation process.

Police reports indicate that six shell casings and one bullet head were recovered from the scene. Surveillance footage captured the sound of seven gunshots. Nokk, a resident living near the scene, recounted the events of that night.

Around 3am, she was awakened by the sound of multiple gunshots. Initially thinking it might be a tyre explosion, she soon realised it was gunfire. Fearing for her safety, she stayed inside, observing the scene through her window. The area was very dark, making it difficult to see clearly.

Such incidents are uncommon in the area, although Nokk recalled a previous shooting near a nearby U-turn some time ago, reported KhaoSod.

Wut Romphoree, a 34 year old resident of Village 4, Thong Chai subdistrict, Bang Saphan district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province, has spoken out about a harrowing shooting incident that occurred while he was driving a trailer truck.

Wut explained that he and a friend, who was later injured, had been transporting energy drinks from Ayutthaya province to Hat Yai district in Songkhla province. As they approached a traffic light junction in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan, the traffic light turned green.

Wut said he was driving along the right lane when a bronze Toyota Vios with a Prachuap Khiri Khan licence plate suddenly cut across from the left lane in front of his truck.

In response, Wut said he followed the car, and upon reaching the location of the incident, he overtook the vehicle and turned on his hazard lights to signal for it to stop. Wut and his friend then approached the car to ask the driver why he had cut them off. The car driver denied the accusation, claiming, “I didn’t cut you off.”

Without warning, the driver drew a gun and fired multiple rounds at Wut and his friend before speeding away. One bullet narrowly missed Wut’s head, knocking his helmet off. Both men fled for their lives in different directions.

Unfortunately, Wut’s overweight friend could not run fast enough and was shot. The bullet entered through his back and exited through his chest.

Wut quickly rushed his wounded friend to Prachuap Khiri Khan Hospital in his trailer truck, with the friend reporting that he was unable to endure the pain, reported Amarin TV.
