Thai man brandishes knife over pad Thai order blunder

A 32 year old man became agitated and wielded a knife at a convenience store in Chon Buri after ordering pad Thai without Chinese chives, only to find them included. The incident occurred yesterday, April 5.
Officers from Mueang Chon Buri Police Station received a report of the man, Thakorn, entering a convenience store at Mueang district’s Na Pa subdistrict, with blood trailing across the floor. On arrival, law enforcement found Thakorn with a knife wound on his leg and a sharp knife about 1 foot long in his hand.
The police managed to calm him and disarm him before notifying the Thammarat Samaneerat Foundation’s rescue unit for assistance.
Upon examination, Thakorn had sustained a significant knife wound on his left leg, causing substantial bleeding. He received initial first aid and was promptly transferred to Chon Buri Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Thakorn explained that he became furious after repeatedly insisting that his pad Thai should be prepared without Chinese chives, yet the vendor included them. In his frustration, he refused the dish and threw it away.
This led to a heated confrontation with the vendor, who still demanded payment. His anger intensified due to hunger, having specifically requested the dish to be made without the chives.
Thanakornpoj, Thakorn’s employer, shared that the incident was surprising as it coincided with payday. He was taken aback by Thakorn’s behaviour, which led to self-harm, noting that Thakorn intended only to get food.
Despite his erratic behaviour, Thakorn did not physically harm anyone; he merely brandished the knife while shouting. Thanakornpoj mentioned that Thakorn is not known to use or be addicted to drugs, leaving the cause of his behaviour unclear, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, police in Buachet district, Surin province, responded to an incident on January 13 involving a monk threatening locals with a knife and an axe at a temple in Ban Srae, Aphon subdistrict.
The 42 year old monk, Kanatsak, was believed to be undergoing a mental health crisis at the time.
