Woman claims doctor urged her to die in Udon Thani hospital

A 24 year old woman, from Nong Han district in Udon Thani province, reported a distressing encounter with a doctor at a local hospital’s emergency room.
Chompoo claims the doctor used harsh language, telling her to die, which left her in tears. The incident occurred on April 3, when she sought medical attention for depression and bipolar disorder.
Chompoo explained that after taking about ten sleeping pills, she began to vomit, prompting her sister to take her to the hospital. Upon arrival, she was questioned and had her blood pressure checked before waiting for two hours to see the doctor.
The doctor allegedly told her, “Taking these pills won’t kill you; if you want to die, take Ifoxy pills.” Shocked by these words, Chompoo tried calling her sister outside, but the doctor mistook her actions for recording and allegedly threatened, “If you film, I’ll sue.”
As she left the room in tears, a nurse inquired about her destination, while the doctor curtly remarked, “Let her go.” Chompoo was not allowed back into the emergency room by security guards who accused her of causing a commotion, although she insisted she was only crying. She was told to wait until the doctor called her back.
Chompoo expressed her desire for the hospital’s administration to reprimand the doctor for his misconduct and language, as she believes many residents have experienced similar treatment.
Her 23 year old sister, Som, expressed dismay at the doctor’s behaviour, questioning where patients can seek help if not from doctors. She criticised the doctor for lacking professionalism, especially towards someone already suffering from depression, reported KhaoSod.
Further allegations surfaced from another resident, who reported that their father experienced abuse at the same hospital. While in the intensive care unit with a breathing tube, a nurse allegedly slapped him while brushing his teeth, causing a split lip, and reportedly hit him multiple times on the arm and chest.
