Thai cyber cops bust illegal gun man in Bangkok condo raid

Cyber police apprehended a man involved in illegal gun trading on Facebook, found assembling firearms in a condominium.
Upon their arrival, the suspect attempted to dispose of evidence but was unsuccessful. Police seized three firearms and various components.
Yesterday, March 31, Police Lieutenant General Trirong Phiwpan, head of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, instructed Police Major General Suphakorn Phiwon, commander of Division 5 of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, along with Deputy Commander Police Colonel Bancha Srisook and Police Colonel Teera Chueasuwan, to execute a search warrant at a condominium in Lat Phrao 121, Khlong Chan, Bang Kapi, Bangkok.
They arrested 53 year old Suksan with several unregistered firearms, including a short-barrelled twin-barreled .38 calibre pistol, a .22 calibre pistol, and a .38 calibre pen gun.
Additionally, they confiscated 270 rounds of various calibres, five rifled .22 calibre barrels, several bolt-action rifle components, and 42 items related to firearm assembly, such as firing pin moulds and springs. A collection of 32 tools, including drills and wrenches, was also seized.
The arrest followed an investigation into four Facebook pages, “เสก สามแปด” “เสก สี่สาม” “เสก เสก เสก” which facilitated illegal hunting weapon transactions. These pages had over 10,000 members and were linked to the manufacture of illegal firearms.
Suksan was identified as the account owner, residing with his wife in Bang Kapi. Upon gathering sufficient evidence, the police obtained a search warrant.
When police arrived, they found the door locked, with Suksan refusing entry. He attempted to throw gun barrels and bolt assemblies into the grass behind the building, where police observed the incident.
After negotiations, Suksan opened the door and surrendered. The search revealed three unregistered firearms, 270 rounds of ammunition, and various firearm components and tools.
During questioning, Suksan admitted to illegally manufacturing firearms in his room. He panicked when police arrived and tried to dispose of the evidence by throwing it out the window.
However, officers witnessed the act. Suksan now faces charges of manufacturing and possessing firearms and ammunition without a licence. He and the seized items were handed over to Lad Phrao Police Station for legal proceedings, reported KhaoSod.
