Teen injured in Phatthalung pickup truck shooting incident
A 16 year old was injured when a pickup truck pulled alongside his sedan and opened fire, with a bullet piercing his cheek.
Police were alerted to this incident today, March 3, at 2.20am and rushed to the scene in Mueang district, Phatthalung province, along with the investigative team.
Upon arrival, officers found an MG sedan parked along the roadside, marked by gunshots from a shotgun.
There were seven bullet holes on the driver’s side window and nine on the rear door, totaling 16. Additionally, the left front tyre was punctured.
The investigation extended to the road median, where police found a spent shotgun cartridge and three 12-gauge wads, which were collected as evidence.
The injured person, referred to as A, was a 16 year old driving the car. He suffered two gunshot wounds to the left cheek, with a pellet lodged inside.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that before the incident, the teenager had left his home, heading towards Phatthalung city with four friends in the car and another following on a motorcycle.
They took a secondary parallel road when the pickup truck suddenly approached alongside their vehicle on the main road and discharged multiple shots, injuring him. Fortunately, the friends in the car were unharmed, and they promptly took him to Phatthalung Hospital.
The injured teenager speculated that the assailants might be the same group responsible for a similar shooting incident involving a 16 year old in the central area of Phatthalung the previous night. He was reportedly associated with the victim of that incident, reported KhaoSod.
Police are planning to interview the teenagers present at the scene to determine any connections to the previous incident or other potential motives.
In similar news, three people sustained injuries in a shooting involving a motorcycle gang in Phatthalung province. The assailant, who had no prior conflict with the group, returned to shoot a 12 year old girl after initially targeting others.
