Teen arrested for fatal stabbing at Ayutthaya traffic light

A 17 year old from Ayutthaya was arrested for fatally stabbing a 19 year old during an altercation at a traffic light. It was later revealed that the deceased was a relative. The incident occurred yesterday, April 7, at 1am, on Rojana Road in Ayutthaya.

The suspect, referred to as A, was apprehended by Police Colonel Adirek Bothipan and his team at Bang Pa-in Police Station. They recovered a motorcycle, clothes worn during the incident, and a knife used in the attack.

The altercation began as A and friends returned from a market in Uthai district, Ayutthaya. At the traffic light, they encountered the victim’s group, leading to a misunderstanding and a violent confrontation.

According to A, while stopped at the light, he smiled at the other group but was met with hostility. Words were exchanged as the light turned green, and the parties later clashed on Rojana Road.

During the fight, A intervened when a friend was being attacked, resulting in him using the knife to stab two men. He fled the scene but was later captured by police.

Pol. Col. Adirek confirmed the investigation was initiated after Wang Noi Hospital reported a stabbing victim who later died. Surveillance footage and witness statements led to the identification and arrest of A, who confessed to the crime.

He advised young people to think carefully about their actions, noting the tragic outcome of their family connection, as he learnt after the fact.

Thongmok, a relative of the deceased, expressed sorrow over the unexpected death. The victim was working part-time during school holidays and had no prior conflicts with the assailant.

She urged young people to consider their families before engaging in violence. Meanwhile, the suspect’s mother was shocked by the incident, learning of her son’s actions only after being informed by police. She had only known her son was out with friends, reported KhaoSod.
