Police in Suphan Buri swooped on a bar illegally selling alcohol to underage patrons, causing a group of teenagers to flee the scene in panic. The operation was conducted yesterday, September 16, by Chatchatch Jesadapakorn, Deputy District Chief of Mueang Suphan Buri, and Narong Krueyoo, Police Captain of Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station, along with over 20 officers from the special task force focused on drug suppression and social order.

The raid targeted various entertainment venues, restaurants, and establishments in the Mueang Suphan Buri district following complaints from residents about an establishment allegedly selling alcohol to individuals under the age of 20. Upon inspection, police discovered a bar in the district violating the law by selling alcohol to minors.

The officers found that this particular establishment was indeed selling alcohol to youths under 20. Most of the patrons were between 18 and 19 years old.

During the operation, officers checked the identification cards of the patrons and found 25 underage customers. Some of the teenagers attempted to evade the police by hiding behind vehicles, but the officers managed to apprehend them, reported KhaoSod.

Initially, police arrested the bar manager, identified as 29 year old Bee (a pseudonym). She faces charges for selling alcoholic beverages to minors, encouraging inappropriate behaviour among children, and violating the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) order number 22/2015.

“The bar manager has been charged with selling alcohol to individuals under the age of 20 and for permitting or encouraging inappropriate behaviour among minors,” an officer stated. “She has been taken to Mueang Suphan Buri Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.”

The 25 teenagers were not charged with any offences. Instead, they were questioned and their statements were recorded as witnesses, confirming that they had purchased alcohol from the bar. Subsequently, their parents were contacted to pick them up.
