Disabled man killed in Surin after argument turns deadly
A 52 year old man with a disability was tragically killed following an altercation in the Surin province. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, February 10, when police were alerted to an assault resulting in death near the village hall in Mueang, Sangkhla district, Surin.
Upon arrival, police found the body of An, a local with a prosthetic leg, lying on the ground beside a wooden platform. Relatives were present, mourning the loss.
Witnesses indicated that An had been attacked by 47 year old Sompong during a gathering to dismantle tents after an event.
Sompong confessed to having an argument with An while they were drinking together. During the confrontation, Sompong kicked An in the neck, causing him to fall and hit his head on a tree stump.
As a result, Sompong has been charged with assault leading to death. The victim’s sister, speaking tearfully, expressed her disbelief at the violent outcome, reported KhaoSod.
She shared that her brother had been disabled from an accident years ago and lived with another brother. She stated that the attack was unwarranted, given his inability to defend himself, and demanded justice from the police.
In similar news, police in Bang Bua Thong district, Nonthaburi province, apprehended a notorious troublemaker who had assaulted an elderly man, causing two fractures in his leg. The perpetrator, identified as 29 year old Tosapol, was found hiding in his home after the incident.
According to Police Colonel Pruet Jamrunsa, the arrest took place on February 4 at 11.45pm, following a report from residents of Moo 5, Bang Khu Rat subdistrict.
Residents alerted the police about the man, known for his problematic behaviour in the community. The suspect had attacked an elderly man, breaking his leg in two places, and subsequently fled to his residence.
