Man attacks wife and relatives with knife in Kalasin, Thailand

A man attacked his wife and her relatives with a knife at a home in Hua Tum village, Kalasin province, leaving four people injured. The suspect fled the scene on a stolen motorcycle, prompting a police manhunt.
Police were alerted to the violent incident at 9.30pm, yesterday, February 16. Police Lieutenant Pimpchanok Inthasan from Mueang Kalasin Police Station reported to Police Colonel Weera Hangnak, along with Deputy Superintendent Police Lieutenant Colonel Nititorn Prapin, and a team of officers, village headmen, and rescue units, rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, four injured people were found at the site. They included 44 year old Nantida, who suffered a severe stab wound near her left breast, her 67 year old father, Jaroen, who had injuries to his neck and face, 17 year old nephew, Ratthasart, who sustained a cut to his left ear, and 38 year old Kanchana, who was injured on the head. Rescue workers provided first aid before transporting them to Kalasin Hospital for urgent medical attention.
The suspect, identified as 38 year old Prasit, Nantida’s husband, allegedly took a motorcycle and fled. Police have coordinated with nearby stations to apprehend him.
A witness, 45 year old Wiansin, reported hearing a heated argument before seeing Prasit brandishing a knife and attacking Nantida and her relatives.
The community had not witnessed such violence before, although the couple often argued. The witness expressed concern over Prasit’s alleged drug involvement and potential for further violence, urging police to act swiftly.
Nantida’s mother, Boonmee, mentioned that her daughter had returned from Prasit’s home in Kaeng Khro district, Chaiyaphum province. Prasit followed her, leading to a violent altercation.
Despite threats, Nantida refused to return to him due to past abuse, resulting in Prasit’s knife attack. Relatives tried to intervene but were unable to prevent the injuries.
Pol. Col. Weera stated that the police have pursued the investigation thoroughly and informed Provincial Police Commander Police Major General Sirasan Yuensanguanchai. Efforts to locate and arrest Prasit are ongoing, with nearby stations on alert due to the risk he poses with the knife, reported KhaoSod.
As of the latest updates, Nantida is no longer in critical condition, while her relatives continue to receive treatment at Kalasin Hospital.
