Brief encounter: Chon Buri thief caught with stolen underwear

Officers at Koh Chan Provincial Police Station yesterday apprehended a man for stealing women’s underwear from a government official’s residence.

The incident involved 36 year old Pornchai, also known as Kob, who was arrested under a Chon Buri provincial court warrant (No. 171/2568) dated March 18. He faces charges of nighttime burglary using a vehicle to facilitate the crime and evade capture.

The arrest yesterday, March 19, at 11am, took place at a residence in the Na Roek subdistrict, Phanat Nikhom district, Chon Buri province. During the arrest, officers seized 41 pieces of underwear and 86 methamphetamine pills.

The case developed from an incident on March 1, when Pornchai, riding a black Yamaha Grand Filano motorcycle (registration 4กน-7062, Chon Buri), allegedly stole the underwear. He reportedly stored the items in his bedroom. Upon his arrest, police discovered the stolen underwear and the methamphetamine pills during a search.

Pornchai admitted to consuming methamphetamine over the past two to three months, which he claimed induced hallucinations and a desire to acquire women’s underwear for personal gratification.

He confessed to targeting the residences of female government officials in the area, breaking in to steal underwear for this purpose, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, residents are growing increasingly frustrated with a man suffering from a mental disorder and voyeuristic tendencies, who has been stealing underwear and spying on women in their homes.

The situation escalated when he fell through a ceiling while secretly watching a woman shower. Although police arrested him, his mother later secured his release.

On January 14, CCTV footage from a home in the Mueang Nae subdistrict, Chawang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province, captured the man’s disturbing activities. His repeated theft of underwear from multiple homes has caused distress among women of all ages in the village.

Besides stealing, the footage also captured the man climbing onto a ceiling to spy on a woman while she was showering. However, he lost his footing and fell through, prompting the household members to chase him away with sticks.
