3 workers trapped for over an hour in Pattaya elevator horror

A routine workday turned into a terrifying ordeal for three construction workers in Pattaya when an elevator malfunction left them trapped for over an hour. Sweating, panicked, and desperate for help, their nightmare finally ended when rescue teams arrived just in time.

Pattaya City’s Disaster Prevention Centre received an urgent call yesterday at 6.16pm that three workers were trapped inside an elevator in Soi Arunothai, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri.

The trapped men were identified as 49 year old Thanayaporn, 54 year old Samruay, and 55 year old Bunyasri—a team of painters who had just finished work on the 11th floor of a building.

As they attempted to take the elevator down, disaster struck. The lift suddenly stalled between the second and third floors, leaving them helplessly stuck.

For over an hour, the workers tried everything to signal for help—pressing emergency buttons, banging on the doors, and shouting for assistance—but no one could hear them. The air inside grew stifling, and panic began to set in.

“We were going up from the 11th floor when the elevator stalled between the two floors,” recalled Bunyasri. Realising they were in serious trouble, he made a desperate call to his son, asking him to alert the emergency services.

The Pattaya City Disaster Prevention Center quickly dispatched a special rescue team, equipped with hydraulic tools to force open the stuck elevator. Within minutes, rescue workers arrived and assessed the situation, reassuring the trapped men that help was on the way.

Using hydraulic pry tools, the team carefully worked to force the doors open, ensuring the safety of the workers inside. After a tense operation, the doors were finally pried open, and the three men were safely pulled out.

Though shaken and exhausted, none of them sustained injuries—a huge relief after an hour-long ordeal in the confined space, reported The Pinnacle Gazette.
