Man arrested for repeatedly raping 13 year old girl in Chumphon

A 38 year old man has been arrested for allegedly breaking into the bedroom of a 13 year old girl and raping her multiple times, threatening her to keep quiet each time. The victim eventually informed her guardians, leading to the man’s arrest.

Police apprehended Wichan (surname withheld) at his residence in Thung Kawad, Lamae district, Chumphon Province. The arrest followed a warrant issued by the Surat Thani Provincial Court on May 30 for the charge of sexually assaulting a minor under the age of 15, not his wife, regardless of consent.

Police reported that before the incident, Wichan lived in Don Sak district, Surat Thani province, where he became acquainted with the victim, referred to as Nam (a pseudonym), who lived nearby. The assault occurred on the night of March 15, when Nam was asleep.

Wichan allegedly entered her bedroom and raped her. He continued to threaten her to ensure she remained silent about the assaults, which happened three more times.

Nam, frightened and fearing another assault, finally confided in her guardians. They promptly reported the incidents to the police, who initiated legal proceedings against Wichan. Aware that the police were closing in, Wichan fled to Chumphon province, where he was eventually captured, reported KhaoSod.

During the investigation, Wichan confessed to the crimes. He has been remanded in custody and transferred to Don Sak Police Station for prosecution.

In related news, a Thai man attempted to rape a woman in Udon Thani’s Isaan province, allegedly targeting her for money, believing she was wealthy thanks to her foreign husband.

The 62 year old mother of the victim took to social media, seeking help from influencer Phanumart “Piak” Jitwasinkul after the 46 year old attacker denied the accusations and evaded arrest. Now, the family is living in constant fear, and desperate for justice.

The mother explained that the attack and attempted rape took place at around 1pm on October 6.
