A Thai man attempted to rape a woman in Udon Thani’s Isaan province, allegedly targeting her for money, believing she was wealthy thanks to her foreign husband.

The 62 year old mother of the victim took to social media, seeking help from influencer Phanumart “Piak” Jitwasinkul after the 46 year old attacker denied the accusations and evaded arrest. Now, the family is living in constant fear, and desperate for justice.

The mother explained that the attack and attempted rape took place at around 1pm on Sunday, October 6. Her daughter called for help, saying the attacker physically assaulted her, attempted to rape her, and poured curry over her head before fleeing the scene.

The mother rushed to her daughter’s aid and found her suffering from a fractured jaw, a broken nose, and a swollen face. The victim was admitted to Udon Thani Hospital and required urgent surgery for her injuries.

According to the mother, her daughter married a foreign man, and they previously lived together in Udon Thani. However, her daughter spent too much money, which made her foreign husband angry, prompting him to return to his home country.

The mother further explained that her daughter is a sociable person who enjoys partying. She met the attacker through community gatherings. When intoxicated, her daughter often gave away money, leading others, including the attacker, to believe she was wealthy.

The mother believed the attacker wanted a rich wife so he could live off her wealth without working and targeted her daughter. When her daughter rejected his advances, he became angry and assaulted her.

The mother also stated that her foreign son-in-law had left temporarily but planned to return to Thailand next month. The attacker took advantage of his absence to commit the crime.

Piak has promised to assist the woman and her daughter by following up on the case with the police. However, they must wait until the injured victim is discharged from the hospital and able to participate in police questioning.
