Thai police raided a large, luxurious gambling den operating in a renowned hotel in Ngam Wong Wan, Nonthaburi. The majority of the clientele were wealthy businesspeople with over 3.5 million baht in cash in the kitty and gaming equipment seized during the operation today.

The investigation led by the Immigration Bureau’s detectives revealed that the eighth and ninth floors of the hotel were being used as a large gambling den, boasting extravagant interior decor.

During the search, a sign was discovered before entering the 9th floor, identifying the well-known name of the den among the gambling community. Within the premises, six Baccarat tables, six slot machines, one fish shooting machine, over 100 decks of cards, tens of millions of cash exchange chips, along with an additional 3.5 million baht in cash were found.

Each table was monitored by a dedicated staff member using a computer. The majority of the clientele were Chinese businesspeople and tourists who rotated in shifts to play at the den. The authorities had information that this gambling den had been operating for quite a long time before their successful raid.

In the initial stages of the investigation, the detectives from the Immigration Bureau were able to arrest 26 Chinese gamblers and 23 Thai staff members. They were handed over to the investigating officers at the Rattanathibet Police Station, where the property owner’s case is being processed.

The confiscated evidence and cash were also handed over. Following this, the investigation will expand to find the true owner of the gambling den for further legal action, reported KhaoSod.

In related news, on November 21, police conducted a raid on a gambling establishment in Bangkok’s Don Mueang district, apprehending 44 individuals engaged in gambling.
