Family feud in Prachin Buri leaves man critically injured
A family dispute in Prachin Buri province resulted in a severe injury when a 20 year old man allegedly shot his 36 year old brother-in-law, with a homemade firearm. The incident took place yesterday, January 15, in front of a house in Mueang Nadi district, but the family has not disclosed the reason behind the altercation.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Yutthaphum Damrongtham from Nadi Police Station received a report from Nadi Hospital’s emergency services about the shooting. Upon arriving at the scene with an investigative team, they found Chaiwat, who was identified as the suspect.
He was apprehended along with the homemade firearm used in the incident. During questioning at the police station, Chaiwat’s statements were incoherent, leading the police to place him in detention pending further investigation.
Chana sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his chest, with the bullet remaining lodged inside, resulting in a critical condition. He was rushed to Kabin Buri Hospital for further treatment, reported KhaoSod.
The family has yet to reveal what might have triggered the argument that led to Chaiwat shooting his brother-in-law. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting.
In related news, a 58 year old father from Phayao province, Thailand, took drastic action after years of abuse, shooting his son dead. The incident took place on December 24 last year, and the father, referred to as Wisut, has stated he does not intend to seek bail, preferring to serve his sentence according to the law.
The incident unfolded at their home, where Wisut found himself in a heated argument with his 37 year old son, Rungrueng. The confrontation escalated after Wisut admonished his son for not contributing to household chores, which led to an aggressive response.
Rungrueng, in a fit of anger, allegedly grabbed a long-handled machete and approached his father with the intent to harm him.
