Bangkok’s shopping scene is definitely off the charts, as its malls are actually mega malls. Here, there is no shortage of local handicrafts and goods, designer labels, and high-end fashion boutiques. But, the eclectic mix of threads doesn’t end there, the capital of Thailand has thrown an expansive, indoor bazaar into the mix by the name of MBK Centre. With a roof over shoppers’ heads and aircon, it is one of the most popular places for retail therapy.

Make no mistake, however, when you enter Siam Paragon, as stepping in takes you to another universe. Bangkok’s malls are definitely some of the best in the world as they feature, like Siam Paragon, a vast array of shopping, arcades, cinemas, and food courts. It would be easy to spend a day at Siam Paragon or MBK as it may take a long time to hit every store of interest. Get your bargaining game on, however, as MBK and street market shops have their calculators in hand ready to strike a deal.

5 Shopping Malls in Bangkok

Best of Bangkok’s shopping malls, listed below.

1. Siam Paragon

Upon stepping through the perfectly manicured entrance, it is easy to feel like someone famous when you enter this mega mall. Greeted by a forest of shrubbery and flowers, walking a bit further reveals a Maserati dealership. And, in case that doesn’t get your head spinning, take a look at the inside of the mall. Here, it is clear that you may be wondering where you are, as the view is epic.

Aside from shopping for some of the more posh labels, take a break and eat at the mall’s food court. But, don’t let the food court name lower your expectations. Siam Paragon’s food court is like a food lover’s paradise as you can find almost anything your tummy desires. After you finish eating, the mall’s aquarium will undoubtedly have you wondering if you have entered another world.

2. Terminal 21

As one of the most popular places to shop, visitors can find clothing from around the world at Terminal 21. Each floor of the mall celebrates a different city in the world, making shopping a transcendental experience. Furthermore, you don’t have to travel to experience the 4 corners of the world and their unique fashion senses. What’s even better, is that the mall is located right off the BTS Skytrain Asok Station.

Don’t worry, however, if you aren’t needing some new threads as the dining here is worth venturing inside. From 5 star restaurants to cafeteria-like food courts, anyone can stop by to grab a bite. And, if you feel you ate too much, try walking a treadmill at the mall’s gym on the top floor. Here, you’ll burn calories while overlooking Sukhumvit Road. Exhausted? Catch a flick at the mall’s cinema, which shows both Thai and Western movies.

3. MBK Centre

MBK Centre is Bangkok’s most iconic shopping mall as it is like an indoor bazaar, without the Thailand heat! Inside you’ll find an exciting mixture of shops, lined up a bit imperfectly just like an outdoor market. The shop owners also look like they wanted an escape from the hot weather, as all are friendly and very happy to cut a deal with you.

One of the best things, however, about MBK is the vast amount of electronics available. Instead of ordering a part or cable from online, run to MBK where you are sure to find a replacement at half the cost. Despite having no-name brands, the mall has proven extremely valuable to the city. With great souvenir shopping in the basement, or in the Mini Plaza, you can find something for your friends as well. The mall also features an intimidating display of cheaper clothes, which are a bargain shopper’s dream.

4. Siam Centre

Siam Centre may just take fashion lovers to the next level, as its plethora of shops and boutiques is enviable. But, first, stop off at the Food Factory, the mall’s high-end food court. Here, you will definitely find anything from Indian food to organic smoothies to wet your palate. And, the aroma is delicious!

The mall is quite unique in that it features a true blend of Western and Thai shopping. Upon entering the upscale entrance, shoppers will find Forever 21, a popular Western brand. But from here, the retail therapy gets more intense as it gradually introduces you to the Thai side of shopping, where more rare clothing designs and their stores appear.

5. Siam Discovery

Newly renovated Siam Discovery has received a celebrity-like facelift after being opened since 1973. This mall claims to be the largest lifestyle speciality store in all of Thailand. And, their boasting may have backing. Featuring all sorts of handy gadgets and electronics, to a vendor dedicated to saving elephants worldwide, Siam Discovery is unique by far.

If you are taking your kids with you shopping, be prepared for wide eyes and amazement upon seeing the candy land of toys. From drones for older kids to life-sized Star Wars figures, your family is sure to have their minds blown with visual stimulation. For adults, finding decor for your home is at your fingertips with an entire floor set aside for just that. Regardless of your shopping list, Siam Discovery is a family-friendly mall that will have your kids in a fit of fun!

Even though you may be visiting Thailand’s capital for the temples or floating markets, getting your shopping on is definitely recommended. Here, you will find some of the most amazing shopping malls on the planet, with new ones sprouting up as mega malls. From lower budgeted indoor bazaars to high-end designer labels, Bangkok shopping is a fusion of Western and Thai style threads.

Don’t forget, however, to see what else these shopping centres have to offer. As besides updating your wardrobe, you can also try some worldwide cuisines at the malls’ food courts. Featuring 5 star restaurants and cafeteria-like bargain lunches, taking a break from your shopping journey will clearly help you recharge. Kids coming along? No worries as most of these malls feature toy stores, arcades, and some even have aquariums! So, make sure you take a break from the heat outside and spend a day doing some retail therapy.
