A woman’s monumental investment in a peculiar red stone has shocked experts, yielding a return considerably higher than anticipated. The stone, originally purchased for around 14.8 million baht, was revealed to be a highly valuable artefact.

In recent years, China has seen a surge in the buying and selling of antiques, items that are not only rare but also incredibly valuable. The popularity of the television programme Asset Appraisal on CCTV testifies to the widespread interest in this trend. Recently, a woman participated in the show, presenting a nondescript, hand-sized rock that, at first glance, appeared to be of little value.

The woman, an avid collector of peculiar stones, stumbled upon the stone on one of her trips and purchased it for a staggering 3 million yuan (14.8 million baht). The revelation of this price left experts astounded and intrigued about the true value of the red stone.

After her purchase, the woman consulted various gemstone experts, receiving conflicting opinions. While some claimed it was a valuable red gemstone and deemed her purchase profitable, others dismissed it as a mere dyed stone. Confused by the contrasting views, she decided to bring the stone to Asset Appraisal for a professional evaluation.

Upon initial examination, experts found the red stone ordinary, its only distinctive feature was its blood-red colour. However, thorough inspection revealed the stone to be a cock’s bloodstone – named for its striking resemblance to cock’s blood. This is a gemstone made up of jade, quartz, and mora, highly valued and sought after in the antique market.

The expert’s analysis left the woman and the studio audience holding their breath in anticipation of the stone’s appraisal. The expert then addressed the woman.

“Stay calm as you hear the price. This is not only a rare gemstone, but it’s also well-preserved. It has a vibrant colour, and its market price could reach up to 5 million yuan (25 million baht).”

The red stone’s actual value, nearly twice the amount the woman had paid, left her overjoyed to the point of tears. The audience also playfully mimicked her reaction. Ultimately, she was reassured that her valuable gemstone was a worthwhile investment.

The expert also provided advice on how to preserve the gemstone for a long time, ensuring its value continues to appreciate, reported Sanook.
