Air India Express is making waves with its latest announcement: direct flights from Hyderabad to the tropical paradise of Phuket. Launching on January 31, these flights will initially operate thrice weekly—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—before ramping up to six times a week from February 15, skipping only Tuesdays.

This move comes hot on the heels of the airline’s new Bangkok route, cementing its position as a key player in connecting India to Southeast Asia.

“We’re thrilled to add Phuket and Dibrugarh to our expanding network,” said Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express. “Phuket strengthens our Southeast Asian presence, while Dibrugarh reflects our commitment to Northeast India’s growth.”

Phuket’s allure—pristine beaches, electrifying nightlife, and rich culture—is now just a direct flight away for Hyderabad’s travellers. The route is expected to boost tourism and business links between India and Thailand, offering seamless connections from 16 Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Varanasi.

Meanwhile, Air India Express is also taking big strides domestically. Dibrugarh, the “Tea City of India,” joins its network with direct flights to Guwahati and onward service to Delhi. Passengers can also enjoy one-stop flights to major hubs like Bengaluru and Chennai, opening doors for tourism and trade across Northeast India, reported Economic Times.

The airline’s ambitious expansion is backed by a fleet surpassing 90 aircraft, with plans to break the 100 mark by early this year. With its growing network and commitment to underserved markets, Air India Express is redefining connectivity for leisure, business, and trade travellers.

In related news, over 100 passengers on an Air India flight to New Delhi found themselves stranded in Phuket for over 80 hours, enduring a string of delays due to persistent technical issues with their aircraft. The saga began when the flight, initially scheduled for departure on the night of November 16, was postponed by six hours, with the airline citing technical faults as the cause.
