Bomb threat forces emergency landing of Air India flight in Phuket

Flight AI 379 diverted to Phuket after bomb threat discovered onboard

Following the Air India flight crash yesterday, a bomb threat forced another flight from the troubled airline to make an emergency landing at Phuket Airport today.

Flight AI 379, en route from Phuket to Delhi with 156 passengers aboard, was diverted to Phuket after a bomb threat message was discovered on board.

At 9.30am today, June 13, Phuket International Airport received an urgent notification from the Flight Control Centre of the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. The pilot of Air India Flight AI 379 had reported finding the bomb threat message while the aircraft was still in the air, prompting immediate action.

Following standard safety protocols, Phuket Airport swiftly activated its Airport Contingency Plan (ACP), specifically Chapter 3: Bomb Threat, designed to handle such emergencies. The Royal Thai Army (RTA) was alerted and prepared to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

As the aircraft made its emergency landing, airport authorities were on high alert, working in collaboration with local law enforcement and military personnel. Emergency teams were stationed at the airport, ready to respond to any situation that might arise. The airport’s rapid and coordinated response exemplified the preparedness of Phuket’s aviation safety procedures in the face of potential disaster.

Officials have assured the public that all safety protocols were followed meticulously and that the threat was taken seriously. The aircraft landed without incident, and passengers were safely disembarked while authorities investigated the situation, reported KhaoSod and Matichon.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority, and we followed our established procedures to ensure that the situation was handled with the utmost care,” said an airport spokesperson. “We will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.”

At this time, no additional details about the bomb threat or any suspects have been released, and authorities continue to investigate the source of the threat.
