As dawn broke over the bustling Phuket International Airport, an American man found himself in the grip of the law. The man was apprehended by Thai immigration officials around 5.30am yesterday for overstaying his visa by 79 days, a direct violation of the country’s immigration laws.

The American man’s actions had turned him into an illegal resident in the Land of Smiles, a status that did not go unnoticed by the vigilant eyes of the Crime Suppression Investigation Team.

The 40 year old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was arrested at the airport’s international departures hall. The arrest operation was spearheaded by Police Lieutenant Colonel Akkhaphon Kaewkiat, a known figure in the realm of immigration control. The American man was then transferred to the Sakhu Police Station for questioning and to face further legal proceedings for his transgression.

But this was not the only incident that put the airport’s immigration officers on high alert. On November 8, officers had another encounter with a foreigner, this time for unlawfully working as a tour guide. The American man was apprehended at the Phuket Immigration Checkpoint located at the international arrivals hall, around 11pm, reported Phuket News.

Details regarding the identity of the American man remain undisclosed. This arrest operation was led by Pol. Lt. Col. Akkarapon, in collaboration with officers from the Ao Nang Police Station in Krabi. The American man was subsequently transported back to the Ao Nang Police Station to face the legal consequences of his overstaying actions.

In related news, an international visitor was apprehended at Phuket International Airport, facing charges of overstaying his visa, according to the Phuket Immigration Checkpoint’s Facebook page managed by the airport division of Phuket Immigration.

The arrest occurred on August 30, with the individual possibly blacklisted under the Good Guys In, Bad Guys Out regulation. Read more about this story HERE.
