Royal Garden Plaza Pattaya is gearing up to host a significant event on Valentine’s Day, February 14, marking Thailand’s historic Marriage Equality Law with free wedding ceremonies for LGBTQ+ couples.

Pattaya Marriage Equality Celebration 2025 honours the law’s official enactment on January 23, with support from Pattaya City and various partners.

Seven LGBTQ+ couples will be chosen to have their wedding ceremonies and legal marriage registrations at no cost. Among them are Nontawat Charoenkesonsin and Tanakorn Sittitiamtong, who achieved global fame in 2012 with a Guinness World Record for the longest kiss, lasting 50 hours, 25 minutes, and 1 second.

Now living in Chachoengsao, they have been selected as the first participants in this landmark event.

Nontawat expressed gratitude to the organisers for their selection, highlighting the event’s significance in promoting social acceptance and understanding of all forms of love. He hopes the initiative will encourage other couples to celebrate their love with pride and courage.

Thailand’s Marriage Equality Law grants all couples, regardless of gender, equal legal rights, including joint asset management, inheritance, and child adoption. This legislation, effective from January 22 in Bangkok and January 23 nationwide, makes Thailand the first ASEAN country to implement such laws, reported The Pattaya News.
