A British tourist found himself on the receiving end of a knockout punch from a local bar security guard, leaving him bloodied and hospital-bound on Pattaya’s notorious Walking Street.

The late-night altercation, recorded at around 11.30pm, yesterday, March 2, unfolded like a scene from an action-crime movie, with the aftermath turning heads and causing quite a stir.

Eyewitnesses recounted the drama as the guard appeared to back away, seemingly trying to disengage, while the 62 year old Brit trailed him, looking for trouble.

Tempers flared and, as CCTV footage revealed, the tourist lunged forward and the guard retaliated with a swift right hook that sent his adversary crashing to the ground, his head splitting open as it met the pavement.

Passers-by quickly rallied, providing first aid until paramedics whisked the dazed man to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Meanwhile, the guard, unfazed, sauntered back into the venue, vanishing into the neon-lit night.

Rumour has it that the tourist had agitated the guard initially, resulting in heated words exchanging, sparking the eventual brawl, reported Channel 7

The incident adds another page to Pattaya’s chequered history of nightlife skirmishes, despite recent efforts by Tourist Police and Region 2 Provincial Police to step up security measures.

Amidst the media storm, allegations swirl about the local officials attempting to hush the incident, with volunteer police reportedly advised against sharing details with journalists.

Revelations have also surfaced of prior violent encounters involving Pattaya venue security guards, including a bartender being floored on New Year’s Day and a young Chinese businessman beaten until his dentures hit the deck.

Brits behaving badly in Pattaya is nothing new. Last month a British tourist was beaten with high heels and thrown out of a Thai bar by furious female workers after refusing to settle his tab.

The middle-aged holidaymaker and his friend were treating a group of young women to drinks at a bar in Pattaya, Thailand’s infamous nightlife hub, when the night took a violent turn.
