Two Thai restaurant owners took to social media to expose two foreign couples for committing dine and dash offences at their establishments in Phuket last week.

A female Thai restaurant owner, Narissara O OOp, shared a post on her Facebook account on February 28 condemning two foreigners for their fraudulent act and warning other restaurants to be cautious of the couple.

“Free visa! You must come back to pay for the food! Please help share this post. They dined for 1,823 baht but fled without paying when the staff were busy. My restaurant is in the Sai Yuan area of the Rawai sub-district. Other restaurants must be aware of this couple. I have already filed a complaint with the police.”

Narissara attached two pictures of the foreigners in her post. The woman was wearing long jeans, a bikini top, and a black jacket, while the man was dressed in a long-sleeved T-shirt and black trousers.

Several Thai news agencies shared Narissara’s post over the weekend. She expressed her gratitude to the media and provided an update, stating that the two foreigners remain at large.

Another Thai restaurant, Ying’s Cafe – Kamala, reported a separate dine and dash incident on its official Facebook page yesterday, March 2. The restaurant shared pictures of a foreign couple along with a caption that read:

“Another bad tourist. Eating but failing to pay the bill. My staff presented them with the bill, and they asked the staff to wait. The workers cleaned the table while waiting, and they seized the opportunity to walk out of the restaurant without paying while all the staff were busy.

The bill is 467 baht, and we will give the full amount as a reward to anyone with useful information about these two foreign tourists. The loss is not significant, but we do not appreciate these kinds of bad tourists.”

Fortunately, Ying’s Cafe – Kamala later provided an update, stating that the foreign couple contacted the restaurant later to settle the bill. The restaurant criticised the couple, suggesting they assumed a small establishment would lack security cameras but they were wrong.

These two dine and dash incidents follow a similar case in January involving multiple restaurants in Phuket. In that instance, many restaurant owners sought justice and issued warnings to one another after a Russian couple fled without paying their bills. The two Russian nationals remain at large.
