Singaporean tourist and locals injured in Pattaya traffic accident
A traffic accident involving a Singaporean tourist and a local pickup truck left over 12 people injured in Pattaya. The collision occurred on Jomtien Beach Road at 12.36am, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Upon arrival, responders discovered a modified Nissan Frontier pickup truck and a white Honda Civic sedan involved in the crash.
The pickup truck was transporting 12 government officials and village health volunteers from Phichit province when it collided with the sedan driven by 26 year old Zheng Xiong, a Singaporean tourist.
The accident caused notable damage to the front of the pickup truck, resulting in minor injuries to all of the passengers.
Emergency personnel provided first aid on-site before transferring the injured passengers to nearby hospitals. Nine passengers suffered abrasions, head injuries, and pain, while Zheng Xiong also sustained injuries. Rescue workers ensured that all victims received appropriate medical attention and care.
Ekkachai Suksomwai, the 62 year old driver of the pickup truck, recounted the incident. He was transporting the group to their Jomtien hotel after a study tour. According to Ekkachai, the Honda Civic crossed lanes abruptly and struck his vehicle, resulting in the Pattaya accident.
Ekkachai attributed his lack of injuries to wearing an amulet of Luang Phor Ngern of Wat Bang Khlan, which he believes has protective powers.
“The sedan was speeding and suddenly moved into our lane.”
Pattaya police have collected evidence from the scene and will conduct alcohol tests on both drivers to ascertain the cause of the accident, reported The Pattaya News.
