Pattaya mayor tackles water shortages with major projects

Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet is taking bold steps to tackle the city’s water supply issues. With 12 major projects underway, residents can expect improved water distribution and transparency in the coming months.

Mayor Poramet has ordered relevant agencies to gather detailed information on 12 ongoing water supply extension projects within Pattaya.

The goal is to submit the information to the Pattaya Waterworks Department for further assessment and to create a clear timeline that will be made available to the public.

This initiative aims to keep citizens well-informed about the progress of the projects, their expected completion dates, and to maintain transparency throughout the entire process.

These projects, funded under the 2024 budget but scheduled for completion this year, focus on extending the city’s water distribution network across key areas of Pattaya.

Areas set to benefit include popular locations such as Soi Khopai, Sukhumvit Pattaya, and Paniad Chang, with budgets ranging from 270,000 to over 700,000 baht for each initiative.

The improvements aim to ensure a steady and sufficient water supply to meet the demands of residents and businesses.

Among the most crucial upgrades are the extensions in Soi Sukhumvit Pattaya 63 and Soi South Pattaya 10/1. Once completed, these projects will enhance water delivery across the city, addressing growing demand as Pattaya continues to develop.

In addition to these long-term infrastructure projects, the city is also addressing more immediate water shortages on Koh Larn, particularly during the dry season. A proposal has been submitted to purchase bulk water at a reduced rate of 170 baht per tonne, which would significantly lower the current cost for residents on the island.

Furthermore, the administration is working to renew a contract with East Water Company to boost water production capacity, ensuring that Koh Larn’s water supply can meet future demands, reported Pattaya Mail.

As the city continues to grow, these projects are vital in ensuring that Pattaya remains equipped to handle the demands of both its population and the booming tourism industry.
