Safety first: Pattaya’s volunteer squad gears up to shield tourists

In a significant push towards ensuring the safety of visitors in Pattaya, more than 180 eager volunteers gathered yesterday for a rigorous training seminar aimed at boosting their skills in safeguarding tourists.
The event unfolded yesterday, February 25, at the Bang Lamung District Office, under the guidance of Police Major General Noraseth Suwannanikha, Commander of Tourist Police Division 1.
This high-profile seminar attracted several key players, including Bang Lamung District Chief Patcharapach Sritanyanont and Pattaya Mayor Poramase Ngampichet.
As Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Ensarn, Chief of Pattaya Tourist Police, took the stage, he underscored the seminar’s importance.
“This initiative is a cornerstone of our strategy to roll out comprehensive training for volunteer officers across all tourist police stations by 2025.”
The intensive session was designed to arm volunteers with a deep understanding of the vital duties of the Tourist Police, their specific roles as volunteer officers, and crucial emergency response protocols.

Participants were also trained in the art of effective collaboration with locals, a key element in maintaining a secure environment for holidaymakers in the vibrant city of Pattaya.
With around 180 spirited participants dedicated to elevating tourist safety standards, the seminar was a resounding success, setting the stage for a safer and more welcoming Pattaya in the years ahead, reported Pattaya News.
Last month, tourists on Pattaya’s notorious Walking Street got more than just bright lights and booming beats on Chinese New Year—police hit the strip in full force.
Pattaya Tourist Police, backed by local officers and even agents from the US Navy’s NCIS, launched a sweeping crackdown to keep revellers safe during the wild Chinese festive season.
Leading the charge was Pol. Maj. Gen. Noraseth, who unleashed a squad of uniformed and undercover officers to patrol high-risk hotspots. With thousands of partygoers flooding the city, the police weren’t taking any chances.
