A speeding car has caused catastrophic injury to a Pattaya garbage collector after smashing into him and pinning him against the back of his truck.

Thanong Saengthong, aged 36, was rushed to Somdej Na Sriracha hospital following the accident, which happened early this morning in Chonburi’s Bang Lamung district.

His left leg was so severely injured it had to be amputated. It’s understood that he may also lose the right one.

Manote Thongkham, another garbage collector, says he was wheeling a rubbish bin to the truck, which Thanong was waiting behind, when a car travelling at high speed abruptly changed lanes, crashing into Thanong and pinning him against the truck.

Police at Nong Plue station were alerted to the accident and arrested 29 year old Penporn Prati. She has been charged with reckless driving, causing injury to another.
