New roof welcomes shade to Pattaya’s Bali Hai Pier

Tourists heading to Koh Larn can now enjoy a cooler wait at Pattaya’s Laem Bali Hai Pier, thanks to a new roof installed over the ferry boarding area.

The pier, a key launch point to the popular island, has long been criticised for offering little protection from the intense sun. That’s now changed with the addition of a large roof structure providing much-needed shade for passengers lining up to board.

The upgrade comes just in time for the busy Songkran and summer travel season, when thousands of tourists visit Koh Larn daily for a quick escape from Pattaya’s mainland.

Previously, both tourists and locals voiced frustration about standing in long queues under the scorching heat. The new cover addresses those concerns and is part of a broader effort by city officials to boost Pattaya’s appeal with better infrastructure.

Online, the feedback has been positive. Many are calling it a small but meaningful improvement that reflects the city’s growing focus on comfort and hospitality, reported Pattaya Mail.

Following years of disorganisation and tourist complaints, Pattaya’s Laem Bali Hai Pier has recently undergone a significant overhaul with new regulations implemented on September 16, as announced by Mayor Poramet Ngampichet on September 19.

Serving over 10,000 daily visitors, the pier has faced issues with parking disputes and aggressive, overpriced speedboat vendors.

The new system aims to create a fairer and more pleasant experience by preventing unauthorised individuals from directing parking and establishing a single, streamlined service point for booking speedboat services, eliminating constant haggling.

In other Pattaya news, a Canadian tourist reported to Pattaya Police that he was the victim of a theft on April 11. The 57 year old stated that a group of four to five transgender people approached him, hugging and touching him inappropriately.

After walking away from the group, the Canadian realised his gold necklace, weighing approximately 20 grammes, was missing.
