Meth, mayhem and the macabre: Pattaya man busted

In a twisted tale straight out of a crime thriller, a Pattaya man was arrested after police caught him using methamphetamine (meth) in a junkyard, surrounded by stolen human remains. The shocking discovery left locals stunned and police scrambling for answers.

At around 10.30pm on Wednesday, April 2, officers from Bang Lamung Police swooped in on a notorious abandoned area in Soi 1, Takhian Tia Municipality, following a directive from Bang Lamung District Chief Phatcharapach Sritanyanon to clamp down on reported drug activity.

When they arrived, they found 43 year old Chalong in the middle of a junk-strewn lot, openly using drugs among the discarded debris.

A search of the area uncovered three meth pills, drug paraphernalia, and, most disturbingly, nine small packets containing human remains. Chalong was immediately arrested and taken into custody at Bang Lamung Police Station.

During questioning, Chalong reportedly confessed to a morbid theft. He admitted to stealing the remains from Takhian Tia Temple and selling the urns to a local junk shop for just 450 baht.

He used the money to buy nine meth pills, which he was in the process of using when police arrived.

Following his confession, police escorted the suspect back to Takhian Tia Temple to confirm the scene of the crime and to return the remains for respectful handling and proper reinterment.

The temple has yet to comment publicly on the desecration.

“The desecration of sacred remains for drug money is a deeply disturbing act,” a local official stated. “This is a matter we take very seriously—not only is it illegal, but it’s profoundly disrespectful to the families of the deceased.”

Chalong has now been handed over to Bang Lamung investigators to face multiple charges, including drug possession and theft from a religious site.

Legal proceedings are underway, and further investigation will determine whether additional charges or accomplices are involved, reported The Pattaya News.
