Drunk driver crashes into rescuer’s car, injuring toddler in Pattaya
An alarming road mishap occurred on Sukhumvit Road, Sattahip district, Pattaya as an alleged drunk driver rammed his vehicle into a rescuer’s car. The unfortunate incident, which took place at approximately 10.30pm yesterday, resulted in injuries to two individuals, including a two year old girl.
Upon arriving at the scene of the accident, emergency responders from Sattahip discovered a rescue vehicle and an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck in a state of disarray on the road.
Inside the rescue vehicle were 31 year old Phongphat Phanplae, a rescue worker, and his young daughter. While Phongphat was fortunate to escape unscathed, his little girl sustained minor injuries. The alleged drunk driver, 33 year old Parinya Prabnasak, was found in the pickup truck, also suffering from minor injuries.
Following the immediate provision of medical assistance, the young girl was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical attention. Recounting the incident, Phongphat explained that he noticed Parinya’s vehicle approaching at a high speed before losing control and crashing into his car, resulting in his daughter’s injuries.
An intriguing discovery was made during the police’s inspection of Parinya’s vehicle – a reflective vest bearing the inscription “Taling Chan Police Station.” This led to Parinya being escorted to a nearby Sattahip Police Station. A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed an alcohol level of 0.84%, surpassing the legally permissible limit. Consequently, Parinya was charged with drunk driving.
The origin and purpose of the police vest found in Parinya’s possession remain unclear. There was no immediate clarification as to whether Parinya is a police officer or serves as a volunteer in any capacity.
