Bruises over baht: Pattaya van driver bloodied in beer-fuelled brawl

A late-night squabble over a 300-baht commission exploded into a full-blown street scrap in Pattaya, leaving one van driver bloodied and bystanders bolting for cover as chaos erupted in the early hours.
The drama unfolded just after midnight on April 10, when Pattaya police received a call about a violent altercation on Second Road. Officers raced to the scene alongside rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.
When they arrived, fists were still flying.
The injured man, 35 year old Thinkorn, was found with a bleeding head wound and multiple bruises. While rescue workers were attempting to treat him at the roadside, the other party reportedly launched another surprise attack, forcing rescuers, tourists, and nearby workers to scatter in panic.
Thinkorn was struck again before officers managed to bring the brawl under control. He was later rushed to hospital by the rescue team.
According to 34 year old Boonmee, both he and Thinkorn are passenger van drivers. The bust-up is believed to have started over a 300-baht commission, which Thinkorn allegedly refused to split.

The two had reportedly been boozing near their usual van stop before the argument spiralled into violence, Pattaya News reported.
Pattaya police have summoned both men for questioning and confirmed that legal proceedings are now under way.
Meanwhile, a drunken domestic dispute spiralled into a full-blown physical fight on Wednesday, April 9, drawing police and rescue crews to the scene on Pattaya Beach Road.
The altercation, which occurred at 8.06pm near North Pattaya, left a 49 year old man and a 42 year old woman injured and incoherent after reportedly drinking excessive amounts of white spirit.
Officers from Pattaya Police Station and rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation responded swiftly to emergency calls from concerned bystanders who witnessed the commotion.
Upon arrival, police found the couple, 49 year old Suthon and 42 year old Rungnapha, shouting and scuffling with each other as stunned tourists watched.
Thereโs never a dull moment in Pattayaโs Sin City.
