Thailand hosts Summer Sonic Bangkok music festival in August
Thailand will be hosting the Summer Sonic Music Festival in Bangkok for the first time on August 24 to 25 at Impact Challenger, Mueang Thong Thani. This inaugural event promises an impressive lineup of artists from across the globe.
OneRepublic, the American rock band famous for hits like Apologize, Counting Stars, and I Ain’t Worried, is among the headliners. Their latest album, Human, has achieved an extraordinary 2.5 billion streams, underscoring their widespread popularity.
The festival will also showcase a variety of Japanese artists. Among them, the J-Pop boy band Travis Japan, the dynamic duo Yoasobi, world champion beatboxers Sarukani, and the rising star Psychic Fever are set to perform. These artists bring a mix of traditional and contemporary Japanese music to the event, adding a unique cultural flair.
Korean artists will also have a significant presence at the festival. The K-Pop boy band BoyNextDoor, rapper Zico, and Tomikita (featuring Hanjella) will showcase the vibrant and diverse music scene of Korea. Their performances are expected to draw significant attention from K-Pop fans.
Indie rock bands from England, Lovejoy and Nothing But Thieves are also scheduled to perform. These bands are well-known for their energetic live shows and have a strong following in the indie rock community.
The festival’s international appeal is further highlighted by the inclusion of jazz artist Laufey, Norwegian singer Aurora, Lauv, and Henry Moodie. Each of these artists brings a different genre and style, ensuring that the festival caters to a wide range of musical tastes.
Thailand’s music scene will be well-represented with performances from artists such as Getsunova, Phum Viphurit, BodySlam (with special guests Babymetal and F.Hero), Vachirawit Chivaaree aka Bright, and Violette Wautier. These local artists will add a homegrown touch to the festival, showcasing the rich and diverse musical talent that Thailand has to offer, reported Pattaya News.
