Thai woman flees after running her SUV over man at Nakhon Pathom temple
Driver asks monk for help before vanishing with personal belongings

A Thai woman ran her SUV over a man sitting at the entrance of Phra Pathom Chedi in the central province of Nakhon Pathom on Monday, July 28, leaving the victim with serious injuries.
CCTV footage of the shocking incident circulated on Thai social media yesterday, July 30. In the video, the SUV is seen entering the gate of Phra Pathom Chedi and immediately running over the man seated at the entrance.
The driver did not stop. She continued driving, dragging the victim several metres from the point of impact. She then parked the vehicle, stepped out, and asked a passing monk to check on the injured man. After that, she walked away from the scene with her belongings.
ThaiRath reported that the incident occurred at around 7am. Temple workers called emergency services, and the victim was rushed to Nakhon Pathom Hospital.
The female driver was reportedly a frequent visitor to the temple. On the day of the incident, she left the temple in another vehicle to make merit with her friends in the central province of Ratchaburi, despite having just caused the serious accident.

Media sources speculated that the woman might not have noticed the man sitting on the ground as she was driving.
A 25 year old Thai man who operates a food stall nearby told ThaiRath he believed the victim was a homeless man, approximately 60 years old. He had seen the man staying in the temple grounds in the days leading up to the incident.

The vendor condemned the woman’s actions, saying she should have stopped immediately upon realising she had run over something unusual. He said she should have helped the victim instead of walking away, as seen in the CCTV footage.
According to the hospital, the man suffered a broken back and was scheduled to undergo surgery today, July 31. Medical staff were able to contact his relatives, who are travelling from the northern province of Phitsanulok, to check on his condition.

The hospital assured the public that the victim is receiving proper treatment despite his financial hardship. Doctors also discovered that he suffers from heart disease.
Police seized the woman’s car, which was abandoned at the temple, but did not reveal when they would summon the woman for questioning.
