Thai woman assaulted for rejecting man in nightclub (video)
A Thai man took to social media to call for justice after an influential person in the Isaan province of Sisaket physically assaulted his girlfriend for refusing to clink glasses with him at a nightclub on August 12.
The Thai man, Kong, shared a screenshot of security footage on Facebook yesterday, August 14, showing his girlfriend, Noi, being attacked. Kong explained that Noi was slapped in the face, and the attacker also dragged her along the road outside the nightclub by pulling her hair.
Kong said it was fortunate that a witness intervened in the incident and managed to save Noi.
“In the Sisaket community, there is one person who sets himself up as a Sia (meaning a rich and influential person) and always boasts about his connections with other powerful people. This person uses money to buy friendship, happiness, and fake prestige. He is addicted to sex and women but always harasses those who reject him with insults and physical assaults.”
The person mentioned by Kong was identified only as N. Kong also disclosed that N had committed similar acts against many other women before, but those victims did not take legal action against him, fearing his power.
After the story garnered attention from Thai netizens and news agencies, Noi revealed details of the incident in an interview with Channel 7. She said she met N when she was out with friends at the nightclub. N asked her to go to his table to greet him and his friend by clinking glasses but she refused.
N then ordered the club security guard to ask Noi and her friends to leave. Noi complied with the order to avoid further conflict and drank alcohol outside the club until it closed.
Noi encountered N again outside the nightclub, where he persisted in trying to clink glasses with her. When Noi rejected him again, N grabbed an alcohol bottle belonging to Noi and her friends and smashed it on the ground. He then pushed Noi to the ground and began attacking her.
Noi said she filed a complaint against N at Mueang Sisaket Police Station. She and her boyfriend were worried that they would not receive justice, so they shared the matter on social media.
As of now, there has been no update on the case from the police, suggesting that N may have influence over officials, as he claimed.
