A 36 year old Thai man was apprehended by police on Sunday in Na Jomtien, Sattahip, after allegedly attacking his parents in a drunken rage.

Police were summoned to the Eua Arthorn Na Jomtien housing community following reports of domestic violence. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, identified as Nattawut, aggressively threatening his mother with a small cutting tool on the street.

When police intervened, Nattawut fled to his apartment balcony. Local journalists and concerned residents pleaded with him to surrender. Initially, it seemed he would comply as he threw his weapon to the ground. However, upon seeing his mother again, his fury reignited.

Fearing for everyone’s safety, Na Jomtien police made their move. In a dramatic turn of events, Nattawut attempted to escape by leaping from his balcony but was swiftly apprehended by officers and residents.

The victim’s stepfather, 65 year old Narit (surname withheld), revealed to local media that Nattawut frequently became violent when intoxicated.

“He threw a chair at his mother and hit me when I tried to protect her.”

The severity of the attack led Narit to press charges against his stepson. Consequently, Nattawut was taken into custody at the Na Jomtien Police Station, where he will face legal proceedings and undergo drug testing, reported Pattaya News.

While the exact cause of the incident remains unclear, it is believed that Nattawut’s inebriated state played a significant role in his violent behaviour.
