Thai man stabs wife on road after allegedly catching her with lover
Knife breaks mid-attack and escape ends in motorcycle crash

A jealous Thai man stabbed his wife on a road in the central province of Sing Buri yesterday, claiming he caught her with her lover multiple times.
Residents managed to restrain the attacker, 62 year old Sak, yesterday, on May 12, on the Asian Highway and contacted officers from Mueang Sing Buri Police Station to arrest him. Sak’s wife, 50 year old Juthamas, sustained multiple stab wounds to her shoulder and head and was rushed to the hospital by a rescue team.
Sak also suffered a serious cut to his hand. The knife used in the attack was found on the road along with two overturned motorcycles, one belonging to Sak and the other to Juthamas. The knife’s blade and handle reportedly separated during the assault.
Sak told police that he had been married to Juthamas for 20 years and that they had a 20 year old child. He worked in Chai Nat province, while his wife was employed at a factory in Sing Buri. The couple lived separately, but Juthamas frequently visited him.
However, Sak said he began to suspect infidelity after his wife’s visits became less frequent. He claimed that their child, who lived with Juthamas, informed him that she often failed to return home after work.

Without informing her, Sak travelled to Sing Buri and began following Juthamas. He claimed that he caught her with her lover but had given her a chance to change her behaviour.
On Sunday, May 11, Sak allegedly saw her with the same man again. He then planned the attack and drank alcohol beforehand to give himself the courage to carry it out.
A witness told police that Sak chased after Juthamas and stabbed her repeatedly until the knife blade detached from its handle. Despite her injuries, Juthamas managed to flee on her motorcycle.

Sak reportedly continued to pursue her and attempted to stab her with the broken knife, which ultimately caused both of their motorcycles to crash. When Sak dropped the knife, a witness and several nearby residents took the opportunity to subdue him.
The report did not disclose Juthamas’s current medical condition or detail the legal charges Sak would face. The severity of the punishment is likely to depend on the extent of her injuries.

A similar incident of jealous violence occurred in Prachin Buri province on May 7, when a Thai man fatally stabbed his wife by the roadside. He claimed he had discovered, via her mobile phone, that she was offering sex services.
However, the woman’s relatives refuted his claims, asserting that she was neither cheating on him nor involved in sex work. They believed the man murdered her while under the influence of drugs.
