Thai lottery winners share 54 million baht jackpot
The Thai lottery, Lottery Plus, announced a major win of 54 million baht, creating new millionaires in two provinces.
The Thai Government Lottery Office announced the winning numbers for the draw held yesterday, February 16. The first prize number was 847377, with additional winning numbers for the three-digit front, three-digit back, and two-digit categories.
Following the announcement, Lottery Plus confirmed that 54 million baht (US$1.6 million) in first prizes were won across nine tickets. The tickets were retrieved from a safe and counted live online, revealing both winners and those who missed out. Phanawat “Nott” Nakwisut, a representative from Lottery Plus, personally called the winners to congratulate them.
The 54 million baht (US$1.6 million) win was shared among four winners from central Thailand, including Bangkok and Kanchanaburi. Grace from Bangkok won 18 million baht (US$534,000) with three tickets. Cher from Bangkok and Ice from Kanchanaburi were among the other winners, sharing the remaining six tickets.
Ice, currently abroad, was unaware of the win at the time. Grace initially sensed her luck but was uncertain until confirmed, expressing immense joy upon validation.
She plans to contact the officials after work to discuss the prize. Cher, another winner, was similarly surprised as she had not checked her tickets due to work commitments. Upon receiving the call from Phanawat, Cher was overjoyed and eagerly awaited her winnings.
Ice, the last winner to be contacted, was in South Korea and initially missed the call from Phanawat . After multiple attempts, they connected via LINE, where Ice learned about the win while at work.
Phanawat assured Ice of the prize transfer. The two-digit number 50, less popular among lottery players, emerged victorious, emphasising that even unlucky numbers can lead to fortune, reported KhaoSod.
It was noted that the lottery remains a form of gambling, suggesting moderation in spending. Adding to the excitement, Boss Nan Family, a recent Lottery Plus winner, joined the draw event to celebrate with the latest winners.
