PM Srettha’s Pattaya Beach night out sparks economic buzz

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin visited Pattaya Beach at the weekend to bolster tourism and jump-start economic recovery efforts.

Alongside Chon Buri Governor Thawatchai Srithong, Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet, and Police Lieutenant General Somprasong Yenthuam, Region 2 Police Commander, the delegation’s arrival at 8pm on Saturday, June 22, heralded a lively evening on Pattaya’s famous Walking Street in South Pattaya, abuzz with economic activity.

Local business owners greeted PM Srettha warmly, offering red roses in appreciation amidst challenging times, highlighting the profound impact of government support. The Bangkok-born PM’s first stop was the Pattaya Tourist Police Service Point, engaging with officers to understand visitor safety and tourism enhancement intricacies.

Walking down the vibrant Walking Street, the Thai premier engaged in conversation with restaurant and bar owners, attentively addressing their business concerns. Throughout the evening, Thai locals and international tourists eagerly snapped selfies with the prime minister, reported Pattaya Mail.

In related news, PM Srettha led a delegation to Rayong and Chon Buri last Sunday, June 23, to inspect pivotal projects within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). At Rayong’s U-Tapao International Airport, PM Srettha scrutinised the progress of an ambitious project aimed at linking the airport with a high-speed rail network that will connect three major airports.

The Bangkok-born PM pressed the Ministry of Transport and the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) to hasten construction, pledging to provide detailed updates on the rail project by the end of July.

In other news, the 62 year old PM slammed rumours suggesting the Palang Pracharath Party might be ousted from the coalition government. Speaking to reporters at Parliament last Friday, June 21, the PM decisively quashed the speculation.

The prime minister assured that the coalition’s internal communications remained harmonious. He further clarified that expecting no changes in the Cabinet over a four-year term was unrealistic.

When probed about the possibility of these rumours being intended to destabilise the coalition, Srettha admitted he was unaware of their origin.
