The accident occurred approximately 1 nautical mile off Bo Phut in the Koh Samui district and was reported to local authorities around 8.30pm, according to Police Lieutenant Sirachat Kamunee from Bo Phut Police Station.

The incident involved the Chor Chokchanita 22, operated by Funnyday Co, and the Bangkok Samui 2, owned by Bangkok Samui Hospital. Both boats were travelling in opposite directions at the time of the collision.
