Secret boozer busted: Wife drags husband out of restaurant, beats him up
A husband’s secret boozing caused a heated argument with his wife, who dragged him out of the restaurant in a fit of rage causing embarrassment for all concerned. Despite calling her husband more than 30 times in her anger, none of her calls were answered.
Officers from Klaeng Police Station responded to a report from the public on April 2, around 11pm, about a man and woman arguing near the Sukhumvit highway, in the Klaeng district, Rayong province. Upon arrival at the scene, the officers saw a woman standing near her unconscious husband, loudly berating him as he lay on the ground. The officers tried to calm the situation down and asked for details about the incident.
It transpired that the man, a 35 year old Laotian named Kanni, had been sneaking off after work to go boozing with his boss, unbeknownst to his wife who was at the hospital. The worried wife called his phone more than 30 times but received no response, making her anxious and angry. She then decided to look for her husband and found him drinking at a restaurant in Klaeng district with his boss. She dragged her husband out of the restaurant and proceeded to beat him up, pulling his hair, and pouring water on his face while angrily reprimanding him for lying and not answering her calls.
After the incident, the wife continued to chastise Kanni, who was evidently still intoxicated. Police officers had to step in and caution the wife to calm down but to no avail. As a result, the officers informed the couple that they would be brought to the Klaeng Police Station and charged with public dispute. The wife then heeded the officers’ advice and calmed down.
During the interrogation, Kanni explained that he had gone out to celebrate with his work colleagues as they had finished two to three projects that day. He said his wife had called him but he was unaware, as he was busy socialising and drinking with his colleagues at that time. When she found him and dragged him out of the restaurant, he didn’t suffer any injuries.
Officers advised Kanni’s wife to take her husband home to rest and make a promise not to fight. They urged the couple to wait until Kanni had sobered up before discussing the issue further.
Following the advice, the wife agreed to it and escorted Kanni into their car and drove away.
