Search continues for missing student in Nan River

Efforts continue into the third day to locate a missing 22 year old fourth-year student at Naresuan University, whose disappearance is believed to have occurred in the Nan River in Phitsanulok province.
Relatives remain hopeful and are coordinating with local police. Since March 1, rescue teams have been tirelessly searching the river, and relatives have been camping at Suan Chom Nan Park, hoping for news.
Supasit Srisuksomboon, a rescue official from Phitsanulok’s Khao Phap Rescue, shared their plans to search underwater near the Naresuan Bridge, where the student, Supakorn, also known as Man, is thought to have disappeared. The search faces challenges due to strong currents and numerous fishing hooks obstructing divers.
To assist the ongoing search, officials from Phitsanulok’s Internal Security Operations Command met with Man’s family at Suan Chom Nan Park. They coordinated with relevant agencies, including the Department of Fisheries and Marine Department, to remove nets obstructing the search area in the Nan River.
They also provided a large tent for the relatives and rescue workers to rest from the heat. One of Man’s relatives mentioned that approximately 10 family members camped overnight at a nearby massage area, receiving hospitality from operators who lent fans and provided access to public facilities.
A witness recounted the events of March 1, around 4am, when Supakorn was last seen. He was with his girlfriend at the Naresuan Bridge. His girlfriend was on the phone, attempting to let the person on the other end speak with Supakorn, reported KhaoSod.
During this time, Supakorn took the opportunity to jump into the river. The witness saw Supakorn floating and calling for help briefly before he disappeared.

In similar news, a 50 year old man disappeared after slipping into the Bang Pakong River while celebrating the new year with friends in Chachoengsao. Despite an extensive search using drones and boats, the man remains missing.
