Police seize more than 300k meth pills in Thailand drug bust

The Metropolitan Police recently apprehended four men involved in drug trafficking in Pak Kret, seizing a firearm and a large quantity of illegal substances.

On March 1 at 8.15pm, officers conducted a successful operation, confiscating 301,150 methamphetamine (meth) pills and nearly 1 kilogramme of crystal methamphetamine (Ice).

The operation was led by Police Colonel Sithisak Nakamat, alongside the investigative team, following orders from high-ranking officials including Police Lieutenant General Siam Boonsom.

The team arrested 47 year old Surasak, 28 year old Krisana, 28 year old Kongkiat, and 32 year old Chalit. Confiscated items included a Smith & Wesson .38 calibre revolver with six bullets, additional ammunition, 700 grammes of ketamine, a grey Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck, and five mobile phones.

The investigation had been ongoing, with the suspect, Surasak, identified as a key player in the distribution network, operating in Nonthaburi province and nearby areas. Drugs were allegedly stored at an undisclosed residence on Arisara 4 Road in Khlong Khoi subdistrict, Pak Kret district.

On March 1, police surveillance observed a pickup truck leaving the residence, prompting officers to intercept and search the vehicle. Surasak was found with the drugs and admitted his intent to sell them. He also disclosed additional substances were stored in a shed at the property.

Upon searching the residence, police discovered Krisana, Kongkiat, and Chalit, along with more drugs. All four people confessed to their involvement in the drug operations, using the vehicle to transport drugs.

Surasak faces charges of possession with intent to distribute category 1 narcotics, including methamphetamine and crystal meth, violating drug laws. He also faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The other three were charged with conspiracy to distribute category 1 narcotics and category 2 substances, including ketamine, impacting public safety and state security, reported KhaoSod.

The suspects and confiscated items were handed over to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further legal action.
