A peacock was spotted yesterday perching on a residential rooftop at Eakmongkol Village 3, Bang Lamung, Chon Buri.

The Nong Prue rescue teams, upon receiving the unusual report at 5.40pm, promptly arrived on the scene to manage the situation.

The peacock, typically an inhabitant of the wilderness, had somehow made its way to the urban locality and decided to make a temporary nest on a residential roof. The rescue team, upon arrival, found the bird already settled on the rooftop and swiftly devised a strategy to capture it without causing harm.

A witness reported that the rescue team initiated a tactful approach, sneaking up from behind to avoid startling the bird. The team managed to successfully and safely secure the peacock within a short period, proving their adeptness at handling such unique situations.

Following the capture, the peacock was transported to the Nong Prue Municipality Disaster Relief Centre for further care. The centre is well-equipped to handle and care for diverse types of animals, ensuring their well-being in unusual circumstances such as this, reported Pattaya News.

The peacock, according to a resident who wished to remain anonymous, had been wandering around the village since early morning, with no one stepping forward to claim ownership.

“Villagers were concerned about the peacock potentially attacking the children. That’s when we decided to reach out to the rescue teams.”

The rescue teams, upon successful capture of the peacock, decided to release it into a nature preserve in Chon Buri if no one claimed ownership. This step ensures the bird’s safety and well-being while also keeping in mind the concerns of the village residents.
