An unidentified woman, approximately 40 to 50 years old, was found dead in mysterious circumstances in a scrubland near the Chi River, with her hands locked behind her back.

Officers from Changhan Police Station in Roi Et Province yesterday, May 5, were alerted to a body discovered in a scrubland area by the Chi River in Ban Leng Kha, Din Dam Subdistrict. Upon receiving the report, authorities, including rescue workers from Mettatharam Changhan, investigative officers from Changhan Police Station, and forensic officers, swiftly proceeded to the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation.

The location of the incident, a scrubland near a bridge by the Chi River, revealed a troubling sight. The body of a woman, whose identity was unknown as no documents were found on her, lay face-up.

Estimated to be between the ages of 40 to 50 years, the woman had long hair styled in braids, and was dressed in a navy-coloured long-sleeved shirt with yellow stripes on the sleeves and navy tartan-patterned capri pants. Notably, her wrists were restrained with handcuffs crossed behind her back, signalling that her death might not have been a natural one.

Medical personnel at the scene estimated that the woman had been dead for no less than 48 hours, suggesting that she had passed away sometime before the evening of May 4. Authorities are now focused on two primary objectives: identifying the deceased and determining the cause of death.

To this end, the body has been sent for an autopsy. Concurrently, efforts are underway to locate any relatives of the woman and to establish the circumstances that led to this mysterious and untimely death.

The discovery sparked an intense investigation as police work diligently to uncover the woman’s identity. The absence of identification documents presents a significant challenge, necessitating a public appeal for information that may help in notifying the next of kin.

The handcuffs, a detail that clearly stands out, further complicate the case, hinting at possible foul play and raising questions about what happened in the lead-up to the woman’s death.

As the investigation unfolds, local authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist in identifying the woman or in elucidating the events that resulted in her death to come forward, reported Khaosod.
