A five-legged frog kept by a Cambodian woman generated considerable interest, with many believing it brings good luck and some even seeking lottery numbers from the unusual amphibian.

A journalist yesterday, August 15, visited the Ban Hang Sung community in Nong Yai district, Chon Buri province, to meet with 38 year old Anuwat Rattanapornsethien, the individual who posted about the peculiar frog on Facebook. The post, which featured photos and video clips of the frog with an extra leg protruding from its abdomen, quickly captured attention online.

Anuwat recounted that the five-legged frog was bought by a Cambodian woman from a fellow compatriot, intending to prepare it as a special dish. He found the frog’s anomaly fascinating, prompting him to record a clip and share it on social media.

The woman, 31 year old Tuan Solon bought the frog with the intent to cook it. However, upon returning to her accommodation and preparing to freeze the frog for later use, she noticed the unusual fifth leg emerging from the middle of its abdomen.

“I’ve heard and seen news about five-legged frogs before, but usually, the extra leg is an extension from one of the existing legs. In this case, the leg grows directly from the abdomen, which is quite unusual.”

Tuan decided to keep the frog instead of cooking it, believing it might bring her good fortune. She has been caring for the frog for about a month now and plans to continue doing so until its natural demise. Tuan shared that since she started keeping the frog, she has experienced a streak of good luck.

“I decided to keep it from that moment on. I won’t use it for cooking. Since I’ve been caring for this five-legged frog, I’ve had constant good fortune.”

Tuan admitted to harbouring hopes for a significant stroke of luck someday. To that end, she plans to try her luck with the upcoming lottery draw by purchasing a ticket with the number 402 for the draw today, hoping it might bring her a big win, reported KhaoSod.
